For more than 80 years now, the Hammond organ has offered keyboard musicians a variety of sound and expression possibilities, and generation after generation has been searching for their own fresh sound. Neither is jazz dead, nor is the electromechanical monster. Also on this quest are Paul Prassel, Andreas Theobald and Finn Wiest, who met at the Cologne Academy of Music. In the trio’s repertoire are jazz standards, as well as self-compositions of the three young musicians.
Andreas Theobald first played the accordion and then switched to piano. For many years he received lessons from the Bonn pianist Marcus Schinkel, later he also took hours with Martin Sasse. From 2014-2016 he was a member of the Jugend Jazz Orchester Bonn before joining the Jugend Jazz Orchester NRW after a first place at the Jugend Jazzt competition, in which he participated until 2019.
Since 2016 he has been a student at the Cologne Academy of Music in the classes of Prof. Hendrik Soll and Florian Ross and Hubert Nuss. As a scholarship holder, he is supported by the Cusanus plant.

CTO give the impression, the music has been pupating in a basement since the 70s – only to become a big surprise now. They know how to convince with sophisticated songwriting, that also bears the effortlessness and lightness of summer. Sounds and the music are right in the spirit of time and are evocative of greats like Steely Dan, Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan but also Daft Punk. The CTO musicians are true masters of their trade und together they create a groove that animates literally everyone to dance and is very addictive.
Clemens Orth – keyboards, vocals
Philipp Brämswig – guitar
Oliver Lutz – bass, synth
Hardy Fischötter – drums
The Cologne band LUAH is made up of three filigree musicians who create something completely new with their arrangements and unusual instrumentation. The compositions are by the front singer Elsa Johanna Mohr and combine jazz, folk and pop elements. They use the English language and, more recently, the Portuguese language. Derived from the Portuguese word “lua”, the name of the band was also derived. Three of them, the women go in search of new and different shades and lead the listeners into different worlds. Again and again, the three voices intertwine into a unique colour fabric and, in combination with a jazzy guitar sound, lead to an expressive and unconventional sound. Singers such as Joni Mitchell and Becca Stevens inspired the band.
The band members of LUAH are the singer Elsa Johanna Mohr, the singer Lena-Larissa Senge and the guitarist and singer Ula Martyn-Ellis.
LUAH has “created its own niche with sunny vocals, folky arrangements and jazzy harmonies. In the process, relatives to the early Joni Mitschell can be eavesdropped on, a pinch of acoustic dream-pop feeling comes into play, and the spice is added to the repertoire through samba and bossa interspersions. The songs are always in love with details, placing cleanly played electric guitar, ukulele and glockenspiel effects as unobtrusive partners for the bright vocalises.” Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator
