Soulcrane + Matthew Halpin
30. August 2019 @ 17:00 – 19:00
Tube Station Bonn Hbf – Exit Thomas-Mann-Straße
With “Soulcrane” Matthias Schwengler presents a body of sound that is brilliant in bringing retro feeling and new approaches together. On their second album “Another Step We Take” the musicians are once again working together on a tonal work and always stay on a chamber music level with the warm character of this music. Creating an atmosphere that resembles a conversation among friends. Matthew Halpin can be heard as a guest. With his enormous sound spectrum, sometimes atmospherically dense, sometimes emotionally balladesk, he manages to add a special note to the trio. Soulcrane convinces with an almost familiar personality and shows how vivid the soft tones in particular can be. Each instrument has equal rights and the four musicians from Cologne know how to fill the wide range of musical possibilities with musical value. Together they appear quite naturally as a collective, radiating great harmony and inner peace.
“Finely turned out, beautiful melodies characterize the intimate character of this music, both compositionally and in improvisations, which comes in almost distinctive elegance and restraint.”Jazzpodium 04/17
