Triosence

The new faces of German jazz“ calls the stern magazine the trio around Bernhard Schüler (piano) with Omar Rodriguez Calvo (base) und Stephan Emig (drums) and gives top marks for their CDs.

Since the band was founded in 1999, triosence has cleared up almost everything that jazz prices have to offer in Germany, and it is now one of the most successful jazz imports abroad.
The Japanese Swing Journal, for example, writes on the occasion of its debut album “First Enchantment” in 2002 of the “Piano-trio, which has swept away our impression of stiff German jazz”.
In addition to Germany, the tour schedule includes concerts and tours in the USA, Brazil, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Spain, Norway, Turkey, Lebanon and Albania.
Over the years the band has developed a distinctive own style, which they themselves call songjazz.
The melody emphasized blend of jazz, fusion, folk and world music does not only convince connoisseurs but also those who so far had little appreciation for jazz.

Double Feature

Neuer Deutscher Jazz Preis Mannheim 2017 (audience award)

The young Cologne jazz quartet devotes itself entirely to the compositions of the musician and singer Tamara Lukasheva.

The young Ukrainian has been successful mainly as a singer, but now also appears more and more as a composer and arranger.
Her pieces combine elements of folklore from Ukraine with the sound world of European modern jazz and contemporary classical music. They follow a detailed thought-out motive development and a strictly and wisely planned structure, but always leave enough space for expressive solos. The melodies are emotionally catchy and direct, but are always based on rhythmically and harmonically refined structures. With all the subtleties of complexity, the compositions radiate an impressively dense atmosphere that invites the audience into a remarkable new world.

Tamara’s voice is changeable, fast-paced, full of surprises and technically at its best – Jazzthetik

Tamara Lukasheva came to Cologne for a singing and composition study in 2010 and is now one of the most popular singers of the German jazz scene due to her enormous versatility and virtuosity. She is known for the extreme precision of her vocal performance, the technically and harmoniously sovereign improvisations and the emotional and tonal range of her live performances.

Great, colourful cinema for the ears – WAZ Zeitung, Essen

As a soloist she has received numerous awards, she won in 2013 the first prize at the International Master-Jam-Fest in Odessa, in 2012 the first prize at the Finsterwalder Jazz/Pop-Wettbewerb and in 2011 the first prize and the audience prize at the International Competition Voicingers for jazz singing in Poland. In addition, she won numerous up-and-coming prizes in her Ukrainian home.

The musicians of the quartet got to know each other at the Musikhochschule in Cologne in 2010 and have consistently played together in this formation since then. All four have gained relevant experience on national as well as international stages, partly with the most renowned stars of the international jazz scene.

In January 2016 the first record of the Quartet‚ ’’Patchwork Of Time’’ was released by ’’Jazz Thing/Next Generation’’.

The Tamara Lukasheva Quartet was also successful in 2017:  Neuer Deutscher Jazz Preis Mannheim 2017
On 7th and 8th of April 2017, the IG Jazz Rhein-Neckar e. V. for the twelfth time awarded the Neuen Deutschen Jazzpreis in the Alte Feuerwache Mannheim. After several outstanding concerts, the audience decided in the end who can take home the three prizes.
Tamara Lukasheva is also the winner of the SIGNUM communication soloist prize.
